Lucha libre is professional wrestling in Mexico which began in the early 30's.
Its strongest characteristics are the colorful outfits and masks the luchadores
(wrestlers) wear, the screaming and cursing fans, and the useless referees
nobody every listens to. In this sport, which is extremely popular not only in
its country of origin but in most of Central and South America countries,
Good and Bad wrestle in a constant fight for power and the popularity with
the audience. During the fight the luchador becomes the identity he has had
since he first began to fight. For his entire career he behaves, talks and
moves according to his character's personality.

For my thesis I decided recreate the world of lucha libre for people who had
never hear anything about it. I designed four magazines and a photo brochure.

The first magazine explains how to develop and identity for a luchador and how
the mask and outfit are designed. The second is an explanation of the lucha libre
moves and how it is practiced. The third describes what is to be expected at
the arena, the commotion and excitement. The fourth narrates the history and
gives important dates and facts about lucha libre. The photo brochure is a photo
gallery of the luchador I created, the pictures where taken by Francisco Pérez.
By reading the magazines the reader can have a clear idea of the visual and
cultural overflow that is reflected in lucha libre of the Mexican diversity.
